haircuts

This is W, my 2 yr old grandson. He has beautiful golden brown hair that is very straight. Since his first haircut at age 1 we have been trying to find someone who could cut his hair evenly and make it look like it should. We have not been able to. I have cut the hubby's hair for all of our married life..and did our kids when they were smaller, so I decided to try it myself. What could it hurt right? What was I thinking? I wasn't drunk or even hallucinating at the time!! What a HUGE mistake. I went to the store and bought new clippers because the ones I have are older and I wanted them to be sharp. We got in the middle of the room...put a small chair up on a dining room chair and draped a sheet around the whole bunch. Wooohooo an adventure..let's get a haircut! I put the large guard on the clippers and awayyyyyyyyyyyy we go...swipe swipe...Oh My God. That straight hair was just sliding thru those clippers! ohhhhhhhhhhhh HELLLLLLLLLLLLL!! I'm getting a little nervous about this great idea by now, so I will just trim up the back a little bit and not worry about the rest right now...Ouch! he jerked and there is a big hole right in the back and the way it is flowing thru the clippers it looks like i put a bowl on his head and cut it...there are long pieces from the top that the clippers aren't catching....this ain't looking good. By now he is bored, ducking his head and turning it and won't be still and flopping around...and the end result is this beautiful smile now being topped by a head of hair that looks like his 3 year old cousin cut it with the weedeater! Now, am I going to get brave and try to straighten up my mess? or , Oh Lord, face the humiliation of having to take him to the barber and confessing my sins? Poor poor lil kid might have to learn to wear a cap early!!
